Metal Spraying Services

We are Scotland's leading specialists in precision finish metal coating

Coating Division - Spray Methods and Materials

We offer the following methods / services:

  • HVOF and high temperature plasma spraying of metal, ceramics and cermets
  • Grinding and polishing / finishing of components to a very high standard
  • Full certification of all coatings and finishes
  • Spraying and finishing on site using mobile plant where necessary

Thermal Spraying

HIGH TEMPERATURE PLASMA SPRAYING

  • Ceramic and Cermet (Metal/Ceramic mix) coatings including: Chrome oxide, Aluminium oxide, Titanium oxide and Thermal barrier coatings such as Zirconium oxide
  • Metal coatings including: Chrome carbide, Tungsten carbide and Alloyed steels

HVOF (HIGH VELOCITY OXYGEN FUEL)

** These are the most popular coatings for aggressive/abrasive environments

  • Powders available including:
  • **Tungsten carbide/Cobalt/Chrome (86-10-4) (Diatec 1086)
  • **Nickel/Chrome/Boron alloy (Diatec 1060)
  • (or Nickel/Chrome/Boron with Tungsten carbide matrix)
  • Chrome carbide
  • Tungsten carbide (various blends)
  • ** Inconel 625 and 718
  • Hastelloy, stainless steel, nickel (and almost any commercially available metal)

SPRAY AND FUSE WELDING PROCESS (SELF FLUXING ALLOY POWDER)

  • **Colmonoy's 4,5 and 6
  • Nickel, chrome, boron with self fluxing alloys

Note: **requires heat treatment after application on mild steel.

ELECTRIC ARC SPRAYING (TWIN WIRE)

Most alloys including:

  • Stainless steels of various types, Carbon steels, Hastelloys and cored wires (various)
  • Anti-corrosive wires including:
  • Aluminium. Zinc, Monel, Copper, Aluminium bronze and Phosphor bronze

COMBUSTION SPRAYING (SINGLE WIRE plus POWDER LOW VELOCITY SPRAYING)

  • Including Molybdenum, Copper, Nickel, Monel, Zinc, Aluminium, Brass
  • Aluminium Bronze (good for anti-spark and protection against salt water corrosion)
  • Various Stainless Steels and Nickel Alloys

Spray application Of Ceramics and Cermets

  •  Ceramics and Cermets can be applied using high temperature plasma spraying.
  • Aluminium Titanium oxide, Aluminium oxide and Chrome oxide are just a few that are readily available.

We know of and can obtain more than 300 types of metal or ceramic coatings.
