Scope of repair:

Client got in contact with an out of spec Rail Axle Box, the team at Nicol & Andrew (MSPE) knew we could offer a services which would not only reduce costs on a full replacement but eliminate the lengthy downtime the customer faced. Part was shipped to our facility, and the rework process began.

Item was pre-machined oversize initially to remove any signs of wear or corrosion and ensure the part was round and true.

Next step was to apply our Diatec 1060 (HVOF Coating) to bring this ID Below finish size, ensuring we applied enough material to allow for the finish grinding operation.

Final step was to finish grind this item, bringing it back within OEM specifications

Results:

Customer has now been supplied with a refurbished part that is now fully operational and can return to service with a part that now has significantly improved Wear and Corrosion properties.
