Scope of work:

Client got in contact looking for a long-term solution to eliminate any risk of sparking when this equipment is in operation on an offshore platform.

After an initial discussion with the team at Nicol & Andrew (MSPE) we came up with solution of coating the outer contact areas of these jaws with aluminium bronze (Arc Wire Spraying). Once parts had arrived at our facility the work could begin, we applied a coating of 0.012’’ Thick to all the outer surfaces. Parts were then returned to our client for assembly and testing

Results:

Customer has now fully assembled and tested this equipment and decided that this is an excellent upgrade option to equipment being used offshore where there are flammable gases circulating the air.

This significantly reduces the risk of any health and safety risks and puts the end users mind at ease when operating this tooling.
